Picking the Best Decal for Your Ride

Decals are aftermarket add-ons that are meant to personalize your car's exterior. Its main function is to give that lustrous, cute, or masculine appearance you've always wanted for your vehicle. It's an elegant way to put your own say on how your car should look like ? from logos of your favorite sports team, tribal images, or the simplest names. But wait, decals are not all about aesthetics ? decals have other purposes which make it even harder to choose the right one for your ride. Luckily, we made this quick guide on how to pick the best type of decal for your car.

Advertising opportunity

One major application of decal add-ons is its advertising potential. Buses, taxis and other public utility vehicles nowadays have specially designed decals to advertise their organization. If you own a business, decal stickers are perfect to maximize your organization's revenue through advertising products using company cars and service vehicles.

Vehicle function

Another important application of decal stickers, styles, and strips is its capacity to announce a vehicle's purpose. For example, school buses can use decals to indicate that the bus is a school transportation service vehicle. It can also serve as a warning sign for emergency transport vehicles such as ambulances or fire trucks. With clear and brief designs, decals can serve as highly effective indicators of your vehicle's function so that other drivers can respond to it properly.

Aesthetic improvement

Decal stickers can greatly improve your car's appearance. Decal customizations are perfect for race cars and luxury vehicles to give that sleek and stylish look. It's also effective in hiding away car scratches as the stickers can cover them without the trouble of repainting the scratched parts. Aside from being highly customizable, decals are also quite cheap and easy to install.

Difficulty Level: Easy

Tools youíll need:

  • Decal stickers/strips/styles
  • Windshield cleaning fluid
  • Cloth
  • Masking tape
  • Ruler
  • Pair of scissors
  • Squeegee

Step 1: Clean the area where you will attach the decal strip. Use a cleaning fluid and dry it up with a clean piece of cloth.

Step 2: Position the graphic to the area you prefer. Stick it using masking tapes just to hold it in place.

Step 3: Measure the positioning using a standard 24-inch ruler. Adjust the graphic if needed.

Step 4: Create a hinge by putting a strip of tape right in the middle of the graphic.

Step 5: Fold the graphic on the hinge and remove the separate liner from the clear graphic masking with a pair of scissors. Once the liner has been removed, place the half of the graphic back to its intended position. Use a squeegee bent at a 45-degree angle to avoid bubble formations.

Step 6: Remove the positioning masking tape as well as the hinge separating the graphic into two. Repeat step 4 on to the remaining side of the graphic.

Step 7: Use the squeegee to scrape out pockets of air that might have accumulated during the previous steps. Once done, remove the clear masking leaving the graphic snuggly pasted.
