The Eastern ECO II Series Catalytic Converter is made specifically for most complex or second generation on board diagnostic (OBD II) systems. Purchased Eastern Catalytic Direct Fit R & L Cat systems (header to muffler). Looked good out of box, had a reputable Audi/VW shop do work. VW Header to new flange connection not even close. Reinstalled both pipes twice, one 3 times adding gaskets and using hi-temp silicone. Held for 500 miles or so, now have leaks at exhaust manifold connections. VW/Audi uses a cast flange to fit over a sealing protrusion on exhaust manifold. These cats came with a simple 3-bolt flat flange that will not seal. Also, the right one had welding slag hanging into front O2 sensor port that ruined the O2 sensor on installation (mech was able to remove slag with a long punch, sell me new one). Heat shield on right cat was welded on wrong side - top on one, bottom on the other! Finally, at end of cat system to muffler. right one was 2" too short and angled wrong. Only had 1/8" to connect to clamp, left one was fine. Now I have $1000 in labor and the cats are used. The 3 gaskets and silicone sealed for about a month, now it sounds like a tank and O2 code is going off due to leaks. Don't buy these cheap Eastern Catalytic Cats, buy something better!
