This is the 5th tank I have had replaced in 2 years!! It is a piece of junk!! All of a sudden it will erupt a huge leak at the seams or seals and all the fluid wwill leak out. I hae a lifetime warranty of this inferior part and have to take the time to have my mechanic install it and pay him $35 ea time to do it and then take the part back to get my money back for buying yet another one. The Malibu has no other part for this car. My nexy car will not be a Chevy.

Good as a temporary fix by Carl, January 19, 2011

This is my second coolant reservoir tank for my 02 Grand Am. The Original equipment also had the same issue as my second tank (unknowingly). A small pinhole leak in the plastic welding seam became evident after 6 months of normal usage. I thought maybe the cap was causing me to lose radiator fluid. Not the case after doing additional ressearch and a mechanic confirming the issue with a tank pressure-check. I think this is inherant with the tank design itself and manufacturing processes. I can only recommed this as a temporary and inexpensive fix. I can suggest not overfilling your tank and do not over-tighten the filler cap. Perhaps that will lessen the possibility of another seam failure.
