Ordered set of two (left & right) replacement tailgate cables for my 1997 Chevy S-10. Part did not include essential attachment rivet which attaches lower end to the tailgate latch assembly. Substitute was impossible to find, wound up having to get a machine shop to fabricate two from scratch (one for each side).

The cable is fine, has the right ends on it and everything. Installing it was a bit of a hassle. Had to drill out OEM rivet on tailgate end, and replace it with a 3/8" bolt. Had to shave the bolt head down for clearance between the bracket and the sheet metal too.

i thought i would just take off the old one and put on the new. but there is a rivot holding on the original and it won't come off. and if it did, the part didn't come with anything to reconnect the new one. i have to take it to someone anyway now.
