I got this mirror to replace the original part on my 2006 Silverado. The Kool Vue was a direct swap with no need for special tools. The wiring was cut to the correct length and had the correct plugs. The only tools needed were 1 flat tip screwdriver a 7mm socket and ratchet a 10mm socket and on small torx bit. The door panel had to be partially removed but if you are careful you can leave the bottom hooks engaged and just rol the top of the panel up and back. There is one door panel bolt under the door handle on the inside. There is a torx under the button at the rear of the door panel. The button can be pried off with a screwdriver. Pull or pry the button clip on the front of the door panel to release it. Gentle pry out the door lock slide. The whole lock fixture comes out as one piece. The trim piece around the door pull also will pry out with a screwdriver without applying much force. once the door panel and mirror bolt cover trim are out of the way trace the wire from the mirror back to the plug in the door panel. The plugs release by pushing in on the tabs and pulling down. It doesnt require force if you find it hard to pull you may not have the release pushed in. The wiring harness is taped to 3 plastic clips. If you are as picky as I then you can reuse the clips to keep it looking like a factory job. When you put the door panel back on insure that the door lock bar is in the plastic slide. It would also be a good idea to apply a little grease on the rod/ slide to prevent future lock issues. All in all this was a very easy job and a decent product. The whole job can be done in about 30 minutes even if you are not a car buff. The mirror may not be of the same quality as the factory installed but it cost less to replace the whole mirror (body motors heater and glass) with the KoolVue than it cost to replace just the glass with factory equipment.

These look like the original and the price cant be beat. If you get the power version be prepared to do some wire splicing. The pigtail is too short. Its not hard to do just figure what wires work with your power control for the adjustments. Easy to install in the original location and the fit is exact.

After 9 years the drivers side-view mirror became cloudy and difficult to use. I was a bit reluctant to buy online but any concern bout the part, quality, being OEM quaily were quickly laid to rest when the part arrived on time in great shape! Was very pleased with the entire experience.
