Vibration problem less than other brands by Lville Lombardi, November 2, 2013

Bought to replace drivers mirror on 2006 Chrysler Town & Country Touring 3.6L minivan. My repair shop initially installed a replacement mirror from a very well known national auto parts store where my shop obtains most of their after-market parts. Cost of mirror was $155. Horrible vibration of the mirror when driving even at slow speeds. Basically useless. My shop ordered the same mirror again thinking the first was a bad fluke. Again horrible vibration. My repair shop talked to auto parts store and eventually the manufacturer and all claimed never to have heard of vibration problem before. Hard to believe. I researched replacement mirrors myself online and liked the description and reviews of the Kool Vue mirror noting reviews of some other mirrors complained of vibration. Ordered it myself for $45 and gave it to my shop to install (and therefore cant speak to ease of installation). There is still some slight vibration of the mirror at higher speeds but a 95% improvement over the other part my shop twice tried. Ive come to the conclusion an after-market mirror will always have some vibration but it really isnt that noticeable and its not worth paying the exponentially higher cost of an OEM part just to get a mirror with no vibration. I usually subscribe to the principle that you get what you pay for but that definitely was not the case with this mirror in comparison with either an OEM mirror or the much more expensive more name brand mirror my shop tried.

The power cable needs to be about 5 inches longer to be routed in the same location.

Mirror Harness is too short by 2006 Town & Country Minivan Driver, June 5, 2011

The part arrived in a few days time. Part is a replacement for my wife's 2006 Town & Country Touring model after she cracked the outside edge of the mirror on the side of the garage while backing out the van. My wife originally called several places for repair estimates and was quoted around $300. We then looked on line and found this sight with a price that obviously caught our eyes. A youtube video showing the process of replacing the mirror gave me a degree of comfort with the process. After receiving the mirror, I followed the installation process on the video and I think I would have completed the process in 30 minutes or less if it wasn't for the wiring harness length. The unit we had a harness that was about 9 inches shorter than on the unit I received. Using the same harness routing, it would have been impossible to route the new harness. Rather than ship the part back, I just decided to splice the new harness with the old to make up for the length discrepancy. This whole process took me at least 90 minutes. At this point it seems to be functioning fine. At this point, I'm wondering why these manufacturers can't provide a part having a harness length that's consistent with the length of the original part? This is very annoying. Also, why can't the specs on the original part be published along with the replacement part?
