The driver s side mirror on my 2003 Avalanche On Road Edition was damaged after 11 years. This version has the auto dimming mirror which was kind of a nice to have feature but not a deal breaker. The dealer replacement charge was about $800 far too much for a vehicle of that age. This mirror was an easy replacement. I was able to find a YouTube video of a guy who replaced his mirror and saw that it wasn t that hard. The mirror is just attached to the housing by some plastic clips on the back. The guy in the video used a screwdriver to remove his mirror. I just tilted the mirror inward and downward all the way then I was able to gently ease the broken mirror off. The heating element is attached by 2 connectors that come right off (keep them straight) and the turn signal is a 4 pin connector. Getting that off was a bit more difficult. I connected them both back and just clipped the mirror back in place. The turn signal works fine and the heating element likewise. An auto dimming option would be nice but I understand this would make the mirror far more expensive.

Easy to install. The old mirror will almost certinaly break when removing so be sure you have the new one ready to install. Its a good idea to have some paper towls on hand. some fluid leaked out of the old mirror when I removed it from the mirror housing. The new mirror snapped in place without issue. looks better then when I first got my truck.
