The part comes with no instruction other than "With air tube" and "without air tube" stamped to the heat shield. The flanges, although they spin and have larger holes gave me little problem, but my concern is that the converter is installed backward. The emission figures significantly increased shortly after the install. (Immediately after install, the figures were the same as with failing stock converter).

The silencer assembly had blown out, so decided to replace the converter while I was at it. Have 107,000 miles on her and that smell that failing converters make was present. Nice thing was length same as OE and heat shield on both sides ( stock only had one side ). Down side was the universal flanges that spin completely around ( OE were stationary)and have way larger oval shaped holes than stock. You will need new bolts, nuts, washers & lock washers to build a layer cake to hold it in place. And a third arm to hold in place while you bolt it up ( friend). And the gaskets provided are not the type I would prefer to use. Good thing I kept the old ones, because if you try to readjust after initial install you will have a leak and need to slip those in with the provided ones to get her to stop leaking. Thought about returning it before starting the car, but the restock and freight would not have been worth it. And I was under the gun as it was time for smog test and registration renewel. On the bright side I made it work and passed with flying colors.
