I was going to replace just the gasket but read on the internet that it was likely that the plastic intake manifold (plenum) was warped from heat and needed to be replaced also or I might still have a coolant leak after just replacing the gasket. I was surprised how little extra it cost to get the entire manifold and the gasket instead of just the gasket. Its quite a bit of work to remove the original manifold to get at the gasket so it doesnt make much sense to not get the entire thing replaced when it cost so little extra.--could have been a lot more work if I had to do it twice! The PVC valve cover was different on the replacement part so I ended up taking off the old PVC valve cover from the used intake manifold and putting it on the new one. The new PVC valve cover had a breather and the old one was solid--I had no existing hose on the car to connect it to!! It was a really easy fix but I was surprised I had to do this when everything else in the kit looked to be exactly the same as the original part.
