I actually got what I thought I was ordering, hard to tell from on-line picture; it is a universal unit after all. I went to my local Meineke shop, the mechanic had the old catalytic converter out in 5 minutes and after a little effort on his part to make a connector flange he had the new one installed and welded in place in about 30 minutes. there was a few days of bad smells as new converter heated and cooled but now all seems okay. $111 for new converter, $90 install, saved about $800 from what VW service dept wanted to replace it! so far I'm a happy guy.
