The whole idea is to keep dust and junk off the pistons, These appear to be too short. At full extension the pistons are exposed. Not rocket science stuff, get a boot that covers.

My 2002 Infiniti I35 was bottoming out after shop installed new struts. I purchased and installed the bellows and bumper stop not trusting the shop again. Works great, the car handles well and no more bottoming out.
