Good quality fit is a bit tight by LRaskin, September 15, 2013

I just installed this on my 1998 Sienna. I was struck with the rather hefty construction of the unit (which is a good thing) -- the Y and flange joints are made of double pipe and the converter itself has a shield. I have spent quite a bit of time fitting the unit on the van but it would have been quicker if I had started with the most constrained manifold (Bank 1 under the car) and then proceeded with the front (Bank 2) and tail flanges. In any case I had to use some muscle to wrestle the flanges together. Cannot testify about the long term performance but the check engine light (code 420) was gone first thing I started the engine. This is considerably better than a similar Eastern unit which I tried installing and which did not seem to work at all (no catalytic activity) from minute 1.

CAVEAT EMPTOR if you must pass an Emissions test by Ref_Reviewer, January 2, 2012

Bought this item in spring 2011 because I was pressed for cash and couldn't afford to pay 50% or 100% more for this replacement part when also facing another $1500+ in tranny repairs. Repair shop warned me AFTER completing the repair that some of their customers had bad experiences with lower cost catalytic converters, and that they hadn't been able to pass emission tests later on. My check engine light came on in early fall, and the first set of codes pulled indicated a bad oxygen sensor. After replacing that. the check engine light remained on, and further tests revealed that the 7-month old converter was passing the raw exhaust straight through, without any catalytic actions being performed. Have submitted item for warranty claim, but have strong doubts about a converter that fails within the first year of service.
