Ease of Use/Installation:
Overall Rating:

I purchased this item to replace the bumper cover on my VW Jetta 2000 which had broken braces. The replacement is good quality material and very close to spec, however it is a somewhat lighter gauge than the original and did not contain some of the reinforcing parts that the original cover had. The lower shroud which is a separate replaceable piece on the original and which gets the most abuse from parking too near a curb or parking stop, on the replacement is part of the one-piece assembly so if the lower shroud gets too torn up, the whole cover must be replaced. I called VW to check OEM price and the replacement I bought is less than half the cost of the OEM part; when you throw in labor and the cost of priming and painting, you are talking about a huge savings--as much as 5 or 6 hundred dollars. Of course you need to be somewhat handy to install the cover. Overall, considering price and quality, this is an exceptional buy. Though it is not painted or primed I see no problem using it as is.
