Overall Rating:

The "Beck Arnley Coolant Temperature Sensor", is a temperature "Switch", located in the coolant line, near the engine block, that sends a signal to the ECU (computer), when the coolant temperature exceed "119C" (or, "> 240 degrees F"). It's function, is to shuts the engine down, and, prevent it's restart, until the engine returns to a normal operating temperature level. This is done to prevent damage to an over heating engine, when a low coolant level, or, a coolant blockage conditions exists. It's an easy replacement, located in the top coolant line flange, next to the temperature sending unit (thermal resistor) that feeds to the instrument dash cluster. This is a "Critical Component", and should only be replaced with the exact OEM replacement part.
