Think danger only lurks at night? Well, think again! Do you know that driving during foggy mornings can be as dangerous, or even more threatening, as driving at night? Good thing you'll find a reliable fog light bulb offered in the market today. The fog lights are the secondary lighting parts that you'll find in your vehicle's front end. The idea behind their design is simple-to illuminate a greater area on the lower part of the road ahead. Why the lower part? Well, in order to avoid blinding oncoming drivers because of glare. The efficiency of these lights lies on the performance of their fog light bulb and on their alignment. As long as the bulb is of good quality (meaning it can produce beams of great intensity) and the light is properly focused, you can drive in foggy days, day or night, without worry. Now, is the bulb in your vehicle's fog light up to the task? If it isn't, it's time you discard it and replace it with a better one. After all, you never know when the next foggy day will be. Don't worry about finding a replacement fog light bulb because we at Auto Parts Warehouse have all you need. Check our catalog to see our offered parts.
Fog Light Bulb: Two Things to Remember When Buying One
Your car's fog light bulbs are very important. Without them, you won't be able to see well in foggy weather, and you may get into an accident. So, once these bulbs burn out, they have to be replaced immediately. However, choosing the best bulbs is very difficult. To help you with this, we made a list of the things that you need to remember when buying replacement fog light bulbs.
Buy the appropriate bulb tint.
If you'll browse a car parts catalog, you'll notice that fog light bulbs come in various tints. However, you can't choose a tint just because you like a particular color. Listed below are some of the common bulb tints that are sold in the market these days and their uses.
- Yellow: If you want an easily seen yet stylish fog light, then this is the perfect bulb for you. Unfortunately, most yellow bulbs nowadays are just white bulbs covered with a yellow lens. Thus, light output is reduced by 20 to 30 percent.
- White: This type of tint offers daylight-like beams that can be easily seen even if the fog is very dense. So, if you live in a coastal area, this bulb tint will suit you and your car perfectly.
- Blue: Sometimes, you'll see cars that are equipped with blue fog lights. Although it's not as bright as the others, blue actually works well because it reflects the tint from fog or snow. However, because they're rare, the price of blue bulbs tends to be on the steep side.
Choose the best brand.
Nowadays, fog light bulbs are being manufactured by different brands. As a result, if you want to buy a replacement bulb, you'll be bombarded by dozens of brands and their promises to offer discounts and long-lasting products. Sadly, not all these promises come true. One way to recognize the real best brand is to check product reviews written by automobile experts and car owners. By reading these reviews, you'll know the strengths and weaknesses of different brands. Moreover, always remember that the best brand is not only known for its affordability-it's known for its high-quality materials as well. If you'll take note of these pointers, you will never go wrong with your choice.
Fog Light Bulb Installation in Eight Steps
When the temperature unexpectedly drops, water vapor condenses and forms into one of the worst enemies of drivers-fog. If the weather is foggy, visibility is very low so the chance of getting into road accidents increases. To avoid accidents, cars are equipped with fog lights that help drivers see roads and other cars better. However, due to wear and tear, the bulbs of these fog lights burn out eventually. If your car's fog light bulbs are no longer working, you should replace them immediately. Fortunately, this task can be done with the help of a few simple tools. Check this guide out for quick and easy steps on how you can replace fog light bulbs at home.
Difficulty level: Moderate
Tools you'll need:
- New fog light bulb
- Socket wrench
Pre-installation reminder: Don't touch the fog light bulb with your finger because it may break once it is under normal operating temperature.
Step 1: Remove the fog light cover. Depending on your car's make and model, this cover can be clipped or bolted on. If it's secured in place by clips, just pop the clips off. If they're bolted in place, remove the bolts with your socket wrench.
Step 2: Once the cover is removed, you'll see the fog light mounting bracket. Remove this by loosening the screws that are holding it in place. After loosening the screws, gently take the fog light assembly.
Step 3: At the back of the fog light, you'll notice a cap. Remove this cap by twisting it counterclockwise.
Step 4: After removing the cap, pop the metal clip, so you can take the old fog light bulb. Then, put the new bulb in. Make sure that you're not touching the bulb too much.
Step 5: Put the cap back, and wind it clockwise so it will lock.
Step 6: Reattach the fog light assembly on the mounting bracket, and make sure that it's screwed on properly.
Step 7: Replace the cover you removed from the fog light. If it's held in place by clips, just put the clips back. If it's bolted, screw the bolts tightly.
Step 8: Do all these steps to replace the other fog light bulbs. Once you're done, test drive your car to make sure that all bulbs are working properly.
