A universal part is not a direct part, which means that its specifications (measurements, alignments) are not exactly the same as the one your car requires. It will fit any year, make, and model, but you might need to do some modifications to the part in order to make it fit. This applies to non-accessory items like body parts, brake parts, suspension parts, etc.
To make sure that the universal part will fit your car exactly, take note of your car’s specs carefully before making any modifications. Most of our products come with detailed, easy-to-follow instructions to help you make the necessary adjustments correctly.
Whether a SKU includes auxiliary accessories depends on the manufacturer. With compressors, for example, some manufacturers include the A/C clutch in their compressor package, while others do not. For example, if you need an A/C compressor and clutch, search for a SKU that includes both. If you don’t find one for your particular make and model, then you will have to buy the component and the auxiliary accessories separately.
Customers are encouraged to visit Auto MD, which provides how to guides as well as a list of tools required to complete a specific repair job. If you do not own one of the tools required for the job, our site has a section that includes different tools, which you can find here: http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/category/tools_-and-_garage.html. From this selection, you can locate the specific tools you need for various tasks. But if you’re still unsure as to which tools can be used, you can always contact our Customer Service Representatives for assistance. You can reach them anytime through our toll-free number at 1-800-913-6119 or 1-801-214-2997 (then press 1) or through our Live Chat.
The SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) number, otherwise known as the part number, is an identifier used to specifically tag each product offered in the site. This number is a customer’s ticket to finding the exact item he/she is looking for. For instance, if one keys in TM515020 in the search bar, he/she will land on the page of the Timken Wheel Hub Assembly for the Ford Excursion ‘00-‘05.
There’s one SKU number assigned to each product. Search results that display different names for the same parts occur due to different names used by manufacturers. One manufacturer, for example, may label a product Axle Hub Assembly while another, Wheel Hub Assembly; but both names can actually pertain to the same part.
For further information, please log on to our Live Chat or call 1-800-913-6119 or 1-801-214-2997 (then press 1) where an agent will be readily available to assist you with your queries.
No. But all of our body/collision parts are coated with a protective treatment to protect the metal from corrosion and rust. There are two different references to a part being primed. Some are treated with a "primer", to protect from rust. A reference to using a primer is not the same as being "primed." Only if the description of the part says "primed", are the parts ready to be painted with minimal preparation. We do not offer pre-painted body/collision parts as it is not possible to color match without having access to your vehicle. We also have chrome plated items such as bumpers and mirrors. Please consult your body shop for installation and painting needs.
We primarily deal with brand new parts. However, we also have some items that are reconditioned, namely, alternators, starters, brake calipers, etc. To help identify these items, we have added a Reconditioned or Remanufactured note to the part description.
The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) functions as your car's unique DNA - its unique serial number. VINs are normally located in several locations on a car, but the most common places are:
To learn more about VINs and how to read them accurately, visit the http://www.vinguard.org/vin.htm website.
If you have a vehicle identification number (VIN), it is possible to get other information about the vehicle from that number - like the model year. Manufacturers who produce more than 500 vehicles a year must use a standardized 17-digit vehicle identification number.
Find the model year by reading position 10 (this is the eighth character from the right). The following is a chart of model years with the letter or number that indicates the model year.
Typical VIN: 2G1WN52M1S9229747. Model year is S, which represents the year 1995.
