Nissan has a long list of vehicle models that made a huge impact in the market over the years. One of these models is the Nissan Armada, a full-size SUV that can accommodate eight persons with enough leg room for everybody. Although there are already plenty of sports utility vehicles in the market, the Armada still ranks as one of the most popular choice for car lovers. This is because the vehicle features top-rate performance and high-quality features for consumers.
2004: Introduction of the Armada
The Armada was first introduced to people in 2004 as the Nissan Pathfinder Armada. However, in the following year, it dropped the 'Pathfinder' moniker and stuck with the simpler Nissan Armada instead. Manufacturers thought that the latter would have a better recall on consumers from various places all over the world.
When it was first introduced, the model shared the body platforms of older Nissan models such as the Titan pickup, the Xterra, and the Frontier. What was unique about it is the concealment of door handles, which aimed to make the vehicle look like it only had two doors. Other special features of the Armada include an automatic transmission and an advanced V8 engine. Nissan also gave consumers the leeway to choose between the rear-wheel drive and the four-wheel drive model.
From 2004 to 2010, Nissan also released a series of an upscale version of the Armada known as the Infiniti QX56. It is a sleeker design of the model and used the same platform as that of the Nissan Patrol model.
2008: The Platinum edition
The latest series of the Nissan Armada is known as the Platinum Edition. It was basically the same model only with a few changes on the overall design and some interior and exterior features. The new design no longer carries the six-spoke aluminum alloy wheels and all-season tires. Nissan also got rid of the roof rack on the Platinum Armada as well as the dual-power heated side mirrors, body color grille, and the power liftgate. The integrated digital compass on the rearview mirror, dual sun visors, and the passenger seat's fold-down feature were also removed. However, the Platinum edition retained the same powerful V8 engine, keyless entry, the highly technological navigation system, and the rear controls for the air conditioning, to name a few.
Present: Armada and the E85
The Armada is known for a couple of things and one of these is by being the only Japanese vehicle marketed in the United States using the E85 other than the Nissan Titan. This was way before Toyota introduced its Tundra and Sequoia models which are powered by the E85-capable UR engine. The E85 substance is a huge thing in the automotive industry because it presents a lot of advantages for car owners as compared to regular gasoline. It is a mix of 85% denatured ethanol fuel and gasoline or any other type of hydrocarbon. Some of the benefits people can get from using E85 on their vehicles are lower tailpipe emissions, reduced engine heat, and higher octane rating for a more efficient car.
