    An "H" pipe is more commonly known as a "balance tube." If you're serious about maximizing the power of your "true dual" exhaust system equipped vehicle, installation of an "H" pipe is a good idea. An "H" pipe equalizes the pressures between both banks of the engine giving a broader and flatter torque curve throughout the rpm range. It also eliminates "back-rap" - that annoying "popping" sound - common on deceleration, while creating a deeper mellower tone both inside and outside of the vehicle. In addition, uniting the two cylinder banks creates an effect that allows the exhaust pulse from the firing of one side to create a vacuum in the other. The pistons no longer have to "push" out exhaust gas, since the vacuum created on the other side "sucks" it out. This results in horsepower gains, since the engine doesn't have to work as hard.
