The website now offers a wealth of new features as well as expanded functionality for customers of the eight year old company.
“Centric Parts and its performance divisions, StopTech and PowerSlot, have been focused on product innovations, but our site was not as up to date,” stated Dan Lelchuk, president of Centric Parts. “Centric Parts has listened to its customers during our eight years and now offers a website that better meets their needs while providing a great platform for us to communicate with them.”

SOFRONAS SCORES SCCA SPEED WORLD CHALLENGE WIN AT LONG BEACH IN PORSCHE WITH STOPTECH TROPHY BRAKES

Los Angeles (April 20, 2009) – James Sofronas captured his second career SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge win by closing out the 35th annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach on Sunday with a commanding first place finish. Sofronas took the lead by the second lap of the race and never let it go in his No. 14 Global Motorsports Group Porsche 911 GT3 equipped with StopTech’s new Trophy Brake System.
“This victory in Long Beach was all about the StopTech brakes,” Sofronas stated from the podium during the award ceremony next to the winding track that ran all weekend through downtown Long Beach, California. “I owe this race to StopTech. Long Beach was the second stop for the 2009 SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge Series. The season kicked off last month at Sebring, Florida. That event featured the premier of StopTech’s Trophy Brake Systems which earned the company’s CEO and Sofronas’ teammate on GMG Racing , Dino Crescentini, a pole position start after clocking the fastest lap during the qualifying round.
“StopTech’s Trophy Brake Systems have helped GMG Racing’s Porsches earn either a pole position or podium start for each race of the season so far,” noted Crescentini. “It is still early in the season, but it is nice to see GMG Racing get a running start with StopTech.” Crescentini was unable to pursue a repeat performance in Long Beach after a mechanical issue lead to his vehicle crashing out during an earlier practice session.

STOPTECH BRAKES BRING CELEBRITIES TO A STOP AT THE TOYOTA PRO/CELEBRITY RACE IN LONG BEACH

LOS ANGELES (April 2009) – All of the drivers participating in the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race as part of the 35th Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach will compete in a race ready Scion tC with brakes from StopTech, a leading innovator of world-class brake components and systems for production-based racing cars and high performance vehicles on the street and track. The Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race on April 18, 2009, will feature a wide range of celebrity drivers “getting racy” to raise funds for charity including Keanu Reeves, Adrien Brody, Alex Trebek and Carlos Mencia.
“StopTech is focused on giving production vehicles like the Scion tC extra stopping power through patented innovations for track and performance driving conditions such as the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race,” said Dino Crescentini, CEO of Centric Parts, which includes the ultra-performance StopTech division. Crescentini also drives for GMG Racing and will participate in the SCCA SPEED World Challenge Series race, which is the final event of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach weekend.
As the world’s longest-running and most prestigious celebrity racing event, the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race has introduced more than 500 celebrities to the sport of real race car competition. STOPTECH CEO DEBUTS TROPHY BIG BRAKE KIT AND EARNS POLE POSITION AT SCCA SEASON OPENER

LOS ANGELES (March 2009) - Dino Crescentini, CEO of Centric Parts, which includes the StopTech ultra-performance division, earned pole position in Florida over for the 2009 season opener of the SCCA SPEED World Challenge Series before the weekend to be televised nationally later on SPEED Channel. The performance on the track was also the debut of the company's Trophy Big Brake Kits, designed exclusively for track use.
Trophy BBKs, first announced late last year at the Performance Racing Industry show (watch video / see news item), feature ultra-lightweight racing calipers in four- or six-piston configurations providing a 20-percent weight reduction without sacrificing stiffness or performance. Full floating versions of StopTech’s patented AeroRotor/AeroHat two-piece rotors eliminate pad knock-back and increase cooling airflow by 15% for consistent performance and pedal feedback under the unique combination of hard cornering and braking found on the track. These BBKs sport a “natural” finish for an attractive in-wheel presentation and also include billet aluminum mounting brackets with stainless steel caliper studs and DOT-compliant stainless steel braided brake lines. Trophy BBKs make no compromises found on hybrid systems designed for both street and track.
Crescentini races a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup for Global MotorSports Group (GMG) Racing in the SCCA Speed World Challenge Series, and has also brought the company’s Director of Engineering, Steve Ruiz, on as the team’s Head Engineer to enhance StopTech’s racing and development programs. Crescentini pulled the fastest lap during the qualifying sessions at Sebring International Speedway on Thursday, March 19, to earn a pole position start for the race the next day. Crescentini held his pole position through the start of the race and remained a podium contender through the 15th lap of the 20 lap race. Contact with another vehicle after a yellow flag restart forced his vehicle into the pits on lap 16.
“Winning the qualifying round yesterday and earning pole position like we did validates the technical efforts GMG Racing and StopTech have put into the vehicle,” said Crescentini after the race “The fun part as a driver is facing all of the moment-to-moment challenges on a crowded track on race day shoulder to shoulder with racing professionals.”
The next race up for Crescentinti will be in Long Beach on April 19th as part of the weekend long Toyota Long Beach Grand Prix.

Posiquiet Brake Pads
PosiQuiet brake friction features either precision cut or shaved backing plates and mechanically attached shims; these small details ensure proper fitment in the caliper and virtually eliminate noise associated with pad vibration. In addition to these features Centric Parts has added a scorching process to all of its PosiQuiet brake pads. This additional process forces any impurities out of the friction material and pre-burnishes the pads to greatly accelerate the break-in process.

Street Performance Brake Friction
StopTech Street Performance brake Pads are engineered to meet the demands of high performance driving situations while maintaining their ability to work in normal driving conditions. StopTech brake pads combine the benefits of premium street brake pads with aggressive friction formulas suitable for track day and autocross use. Para-Aramid composites deliver optimum stopping performance over a wide temperature range and are specially formulated to deliver linear response in both cold and hot conditions. All StopTech Brake pads are 100% positive molded and include OE designed shims to eliminate noise associated with brake pad vibration. In addition each StopTech brake pad is scorched to remove any impurities in the friction material. While this does not eliminate the need to bed-in new pads it does provide improved stopping power right out of the box.

Centric Premium Brake Disc
Centric premium rotors feature a double disc ground, taper free finish. Double disc grinding ensures parallelism, eliminates run out and provides near perfect disc thickness variation (DTV). Double disc grinding leaves a non-directional finish on the friction surface area for more effective pad-rotor break in. This special finish also provides quieter and smoother stops.
