2008 has certainly been a year of doom and gloom for the entire world but one of the few Companies bucking the trend is clearly EBC Brakes. Designed as a recession-proof business EBC brakes product and segment diversity allows EBC to "lean" on different target markets when the going gets tough and underpin its balance sheet.
"One thing that is staring our business in the face right now is the decision of car drivers to Upgrade rather than Replace" quotes EBC boss Andy Freeman. "We plan to capitalise on this whilst our competition is fast asleep"
Another comment from the EBC boss was "Over the last 5-7 years the world has been downgrading product quality, buying at lower prices and now, downgrading selling prices on cheap far eastern products. This slashes turnover and whilst percentage profit margins may be good selling cheaper sourced fast eastern parts has ruined many large companies, in the UK we have seen classic groups such as MFI and Woolworths die from this just this week"
EBC is launching a multi million dollar print and TV ad campaign starting January 2009 in the USA and is ramping up operations in Europe ready for a similar attack in 2010.
"The US market is already showing signs of a resurgence generally and we are not going to miss this fantastic opportunity, on the other hand Europe is continuing a down trend right now"
