"This tensioner is a must have part. It may be shorter than the one on your engine, yet is correct and from the OEM supplier. This "Coil over Oil" tensioner is easy to check. If the shaft moves under finger pressure, it's bad. If it's leaking oil, it's bad. If you have a "Rod-knocking Noise" up to 1200RPM it's bad. Place in a vise, then slowly compress. If you go too fast it will lock-up. Release and start over. If you go slowly, it will compress to allow the piano wire retainer to be installed for reinstallation.
