Volant is the originator of the highly effective sealed intake system which concentrates air from more than one place while safeguarding the high flow air filter from moisture, dirt and heat. Another Volant first is the quieter intake housing made from cross-link polyethylene which resists heat to keep colder air flowing inward. Volant’s unique filtration, airflow and filter box designs are patented and in demand by performance zealots everywhere. Volant’s innovations will certainly make your vehicle perform better in all driving situations.
The MXP cold air intake system by AIRAID gets the hot air out of the engine to increase air flow, which improves horsepower and torque. AIRAID’S top-of-the-line MXP system includes a roto-molded air box and air intake tube made of cross-linked, high-density polyethylene that maintains mass air flow readings for correct air-fuel ratio/calibration levels while significantly adding to your vehicle’s performance. Most systems are available with AIRAID’s SynthaMax dry air filter which is 100% synthetic and doesn’t need oil, OR an AIRAID SynthaFlow filter which requires periodic oiling like traditional filters. Both are washable and re-usable, the only difference is your personal preference. AIRAID was founded over 15 years ago in the U.S. as a pioneering manufacturer of cold air intake systems, offering dyno-tested products that increase torque, horsepower and performance.

Cold air intakes are aftermarket products that improve the fuel efficiency and engine power of your Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The air scoop is usually shielded and placed far away from the engine to protect it from the heat. The enlarged pipe that connects directly to the engine's air intake system has little or no bend to it, increasing the rate at which the air can enter. The cold air that passes through this intake system lowers the overall temperature in the engine while adding even more air for the combustion chambers. Cold air intakes are relatively inexpensive compared to other modifications that promise better engine performance.
Could cold air intakes really improve the performance of the Chevrolet Silverado 1500? Answer: Actual improvements to the performance of the vehicle may vary wildly. They may range from significant to barely noticeable. If there is little difference to engine performance after installing the intake, the car may have other problems. Fixing or improving the other parts of the Silverado like the exhaust system or the fuel system may do the trick.
What issues may arise from having cold air intakes installed? Answer: One major issue with the cold air intake is the position of intake's air scoop. If the air scoops are installed too low in the vehicle or if they are too exposed, there is a possibility that water could enter them. Obviously, water is very bad and too much of it could flood the engine.
What laws or ordinances should buyers be aware of when installing cold air intakes? Answer: Laws regarding such modifications may vary from place to place but one state every driver should really look out for is California. California has the toughest emission laws in the country and forbids a number of modifications that could affect the emission of a vehicle. As long as the car part is legal in California, it's good for every other state. Just to be safe, car owners should call the auto part manufacturer or their DMV for details.
What types of cold air intakes are there? Answer: There are basically two main type of cold air intakes available, the standard intake and the Ram intake. The standard intake is composed of a long pipe with the air scoop positioned a good distance from the engine to minimize the entry of hot air. The Ram filter, on the other hand, is a relatively short pipe with a shielded, forward facing air scoop positioned at the front of the vehicle. This forces a blast of air into the engine.
