If you've ever driven your Chevrolet Tahoe in really bad weather conditions like too much fog, rain, snow, or dust, you probably noticed that your headlights just weren't enough. Times like these call for the use of your fog lights. With the help of the low-beams, fog lights greatly boost your visibility during these extreme conditions by shining a low, wide beam to light up the road and reduce the glare that you get from your headlights. You can't control the weather, but you can always have a hand in improving your safety on the road by getting a Chevrolet Tahoe fog light OEM or aftermarket replacement when yours start to fail.

FAQ

Ask APW
  • Answer: Contrary to popular belief, the color of the fog lights doesn't really do much for the effectiveness of the lights since the water molecules in fog are too big for a particular color of light to have any significant advantage over the other colors. However, it is still best to stick to white or yellow Chevrolet Tahoe fog lights since other colors such as blue, green, or purple are not legal for street use in most places.
  • Answer: It really depends on what the fog lights are mainly used for. If the fogs are there mostly just to enhance the looks of the Chevy Tahoe, LED lights are a great choice. But if the fog lights are going to be used to improve visibility then getting HIDs is definitely the way to go. Even with the fast-evolving technology of LED lighting for automotive purposes, they still don't throw that much light to be used for actual forward illumination--at least compared to HID lights. The downside with HIDs is that they can get a little too hot for the regular Chevrolet Tahoe fog light lenses to handle, so upgrading to HIDs is best done with a complete HID conversion kit. Lastly, it's advisable to check any local laws regarding automotive lighting to make sure that these upgrades are legal for street use.
  • Answer: Since fog lights are really designed to be used only in really bad conditions where visibility is seriously compromised, aim is the most important factor to consider when installing them. Fog lights should be aimed low or straight ahead and positioned close to the ground in order to do its job properly. Many people actually fail to position and aim their fog lights properly causing serious glare and safety issues to other drivers.
