"good product good service good price. I will purchase more repair/replacement parts as I need them." posted by: on October 8, 2013

"This pump is a perfect match to the OEM fuel pump that I replaced, except for the gray, square electrical connector. Installation in the fuel tank was easy, although I did have to press it down into the tank due to the spring tension. My only complaint is that the product picture clearly shows the pump assembly with the OEM square connector and doesn't indicate that the new flat-style connector has to be installed. While the installation of the new connector harness isn't difficult, I bought this pump specifically to avoid having to do additional work." posted by: Anon on July 30, 2011 view all 5 reviews

The fuel pump in your GMC 1500 works like your very own heart. Your heart is a muscle that pumps nutrient-and-oxygen-rich blood all over your body. It's the one responsible in sustaining life. The fuel pump is designed and installed in a car to perform the same function. For the car to move and run, it requires a steady supply of petroleum. The gas from the tank just remains stagnant there without the pump that drives it to the fuel lines and to the engine. The pump maintains a constant flow of fuel in all components of the combustion engine. So when the fuel pump gets broken, expect a lot of malfunctions, particularly engine stall and low acceleration rate. Replacing the damage pump is the best way to restore life in a vehicle.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ask APW
  • Are the codes P069E and P0231 code readings mean fuel pump problems when they appear in the scan tool that is plugged in a GMC Sierra 1500?
Answer: Most likely, the problem is coming from a damaged fuel pump control module. The truck may be driven and used normally even if this component is just on the verge of failing. However, immediate replacement is very important to avoid engine stalls and low acceleration rates. The fuel wires must also be checked for any short circuit and ground issues. The wires must be repaired quickly by soldering or by applying electrical tape.
  • What is the normal PSI reading to know if the fuel pump is still in well-performing condition?
Answer: If the fuel pump in a GMC Sierra 1500 is still in good condition, which means it's not leaking or damaged, the normal psi level seen on the truck's dash is around 50-60. The best way to know this is through conducting a test by connecting a fuel pressure gauge to a plug or port located on top of the engine. This analysis must be done with the key on the port, but the engine is off.
  • What is the proper way to wire a newly-installed fuel pump?
Answer: Connecting the wires in a new fuel pump is very easy. The colors of the fuel lines or cables in a GMC Sierra 1500 are different from one another. First to attach are the black and white wires attached to the fuel pump. These wires must be hooked up with the black wires that are already fixed in the truck. The remaining wires must be joined together according to their respective colors.
  • What is the right amount of voltage in the pump to make the car start? The readings say five volts. Is that normal?
Answer: Five volts is not enough. The power around the fuel pump and the grey wire attached to it should be 12 volts. Make sure to crank the engine while conducting a power test on the pump and wire.
