When it comes to a car mirror, function precedes aesthetics. Over the years, mirrors already underwent several design revamps; but its shape, figure, and sheen remains to be; first, a practical component that maximizes the view of the driving environment--without you having to turn your head to inspect the surroundings; and second, a safety feature that discourages you from striking against side obstructions, and sidesweeping other vehicles and crossing pedestrians. While mirrors continue to be experimented on to enhance its efficiency; it's always a plus if the body of your Dodge Stratus mirror has already been modified to reflect your personal style.

FAQ

Ask APW
  • Answer: A stock rearview mirror is often prismatic. During daytime, it works well enough to clearly reflect the vehicles behind you. During nighttime though, using a prismatic rearview mirror can be a challenge--since a prismatic mirror is subjected to headlight glare, and has no means to automatically dim itself. Until fairly recently, experts developed a way to avoid glare by merely adjusting the rearview mirror. For daytime; the mirror should be somewhat tilted downward, to see the images clearly in the conventional way through the silver-coated side of the prism. At night, the mirror should be tipped slightly upward to give way to the darker, and unpolished front-surface that will bounce the reflection.Blind spots are a common problem to drivers everywhere.
  • Answer: Yes, there is. By adjusting the way the side mirrors are protruded, it will help minimize the blind spots when driving. Blind spots occur when the mirrors are adjusted in the traditional way, where a big part of the side mirrors show the side flanks of the vehicle; thus, reducing the visibility of incoming vehicles in both periphery. The Society of Automotive Engineers proposed a new way to mitigate the problem by suggesting that the side mirrors should be adjusted far out until the side of the car is barely visible. It's uncomfortable to adopt SAE's method.
  • Answer: It's true that several motorists are having difficulties espousing SAE's suggestion to eliminate blind spots. This is not a hopeless case; a convex mirror attached to the lower rightmost part of the offside mirror will provide great visibility, despite the small dimensions of the image produced.
