"Great purchase. Some instructions would help. Must take door panel off. There is a video on-line showing how to do this if you look up how do I install a side mirror on a 2005 Ford Taurus? that shows you step-by-step how to take door panel off etc....Took about an hour including breaking the broken screw holders off of the screws." posted by: JF on August 19, 2012

The Ford Taurus' comfortable ride and spacious interior has transformed this mid-size sedan into the epitome of a family car. You can just imagine soccer moms and loving dads loading kids into its roomy cabin and driving off into the perfect Sunday. But what would the perfect family car be without one of the most important safety features in vehicles today--the car mirror. Whether it is found on the side or on the rear, car mirrors serve as an extra pair of eyes that lets you navigate your Ford Taurus on the road. They let you see through blind spots and help you react faster to other drivers. Give your family the security it needs while you maneuver down the highway with the right Ford Taurus mirror. Don't drive blindly, especially with precious cargo on board. Replace busted mirrors immediately and keep your family safe at all times.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ask APW
  • Are Ford Taurus mirrors interchangeable among different generations?
Answer: There have been a lot of inquiries regarding the compatibility of mirrors across all generations of a Ford Taurus. But the most popular is between the 3rd and 4th generation mirrors. The restyling of the Ford Taurus towards its 4th generation brought about the introduction of puddle lamps. Such was the popularity of the feature that more and more Taurus drivers are looking into fitting their 3rd generation Taurus with 4th generation mirrors just to get puddle lamps installed on their car. Although interchanging the 3rd and 4th generation mirrors are not impossible, it takes a lot of work and electrical wiring know-how to get them fitted into the vehicle. This is because the 4th gen mirrors are equipped with 7 wires rather than the normal 5 found on 3rd gen mirrors. Fitting the mirror would require not just a simply rewiring, but may even lead to replacing the entire door harness. So unless one knows how to rewire a Taurus' door harness, interchanging mirrors between different generations is not advisable.
  • Earlier Ford Taurus models have mirrors that are equipped with "puddle lamps." What exactly are they for?
Answer: Aside from the standard heating and folding options that come with a stock Ford Taurus mirror, recent models have added another useful feature to further enhance the utility of car mirrors. This new factory option is called a puddle lamp. Starting in 2002, Ford Taurus mirrors came with small halogen lamps found on the bottom of each side mirror. It was added to help illuminate the area around the car doors to avoid stepping into "puddles."
  • Some Ford Taurus models come with heated mirrors as a standard. How can one tell if a particular Taurus model is equipped with the heated mirror feature?
Answer: Ford Taurus generations from the years 1996 to 2006 were mostly fitted with heated mirrors. However, to be completely sure if a Taurus comes with a stock heated mirror, a physical inspection of the car mirror's face should be done. For Taurus models between the years 1996 to 1999, mirrors that are equipped with a heating feature have markings on the mirror that says "Heated". On the other hand, 2000 to 2006 Ford Taurus models will have a defrosted emblem found on outside of the mirror's upper face. If a Taurus has neither of the two indications on the mirror face, then that particular model does not have a heating option.
