"With the mounting kit this was really easy to install. My Tacoma had factory drilled holes right where the mounts were to be installed--just insert the bolts tighten then--then use three brackets on each side to mount the bar to the supports. Easy! Great product." posted by: Tacoma Truck Owner on June 19, 2013

"If I hadn't fell into pits with the installation, I'm sure I could have had this installed in an hour or so. Instead, I had two problems. Both of these problems refer to how you need to bolt the bracket to the frame. The Santa Fe ('07-'10) provides only a 1" hole, in the vehicle frame, to attach the nerf bar. This requires a bridge nut which needs to be attached to the mounting bolt and then fed thru the hole. A plastic washer fits over the bolt to keep it from falling all the way into the frame before mounting the bracket to the bolt. 1) The bridge nut used to "bridge" the gap in the frame hole is too big to get thru the hole. I contacted Westin who mentioned they had received at least one other call about this problem. They said they'd refer the issue to their Engineering dept and would get "right back to me". That was over a week ago and no call. I should also mention that I had to call them twice about this issue to get this far. They say they'll call you "right back" but don't. I ended up having to file down the bridge nut myself to get it to a point where it could be fed thru the hole. No easy task for a thick piece of metal. I wish I had a grinder, it would've gone much quicker than the metal file I had. This process had to be done on 6 of the 8 bolts which hold the brackets in place. 2) The other issue involved attaching the external nut to the bolt after the bracket is in place. The bolts were maybe a 1/4" too short and I struggled to get the nuts on. It would've been nice to have a little more room to get the nuts on. Additionally, since the bridge nut doesn't have teeth on it, it can't set it itself and provide resistance while turning the external nut so the bolt ends up turning with every turn of the nut. I finally got thru this, however not without a few 4 letter words. Once the bars are on they look good and easily support my 200lbs although they're there for my smaller wife. She gives the bars a thumbs up." posted by: Joe Blow on April 11, 2010
