"I have a 2001 Toyota Avalon. Got the P155 code for malfunctioning Bank 2 Sensor 1. Found this part. Said that it was an exact upstream replacement. Didn t work on this specific car." posted by: Richard on March 30, 2014

"O2 sensors are expensive. The cheapest I could find the regular Denso sensor is $150 this one is less than 1/3rd the price. The only issue is that you need to use the old sensors wire harness - which is a common failure point. So check the old wire harness before purchasing this one. Also the sensor comes with crimps which I think would fail over time. The best bet is to solder the wires and use a liquid electrical tape or something similar to keep road grime and dirt out of the wires. If you go through the effort to do it right then I think the sensor will last as long as the regular Denso. Also as a side note this is a Denso sensor so you are getting a quality O2 sensor." posted by: Matt on February 24, 2014 view all 127 reviews

"Good part for a competitive price and quick shipping!" posted by: on January 13, 2014

"This sensor requires a 7/8 inch deep socket with a slot cut the length of the socket to allow the wires to turn without being cut. The wires on this sensor are fatter than the slot found in speacial sockets made for sensors. You will have to sacrifice a new socket to get the sensor in and out. The savings found by buying here easily cover the cost of the socket. The job is not too difficult and is bst done when the car is cold." posted by: on May 20, 2013 view all 16 reviews

For your Honda Civic to perform at its best while producing minimal emissions, it needs to have the perfect air-fuel mixture. This is what the oxygen sensor is for. The oxygen sensor or O2 sensor is an electronic device in your exhaust system that measures the ratio of air and fuel in your car and feeds this information to an onboard computer that controls the mixture. Honda Civic oxygen sensor problems can be diagnosed by observing your car for increased emissions, sluggish engine performance, a rough idle, and poor mileage. A Honda Civic OEM oxygen sensor can be a bit pricey but there are many aftermarket products that go for much less than the average Honda Civic oxygen sensor cost to enable you to economically replace faulty O2 sensors as soon as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ask APW
  • How many oxygen sensors does the Honda Civic have and where are they located?
Answer: The Honda Civic typically comes with two oxygen sensors: the primary (PH02) and the secondary (SH02). Since both 02 sensors are part of the emission control system, they can be found among the other exhaust system components, usually before or after the catalytic converter. While the exact location for the 02 sensors can differ slightly depending on the specific model year, they can easily be tracked by following the exhaust manifold and the exhaust pipe.
  • Is it necessary to replace both oxygen sensors in a Honda Civic if only one of them malfunctions?
Answer: There's no absolute need to replace both sensors if only of them is faulty. While it won't hurt the exhaust system to have all-new oxygen sensors, it can be quite painful to the pockets. For instance, a single Honda Civic OEM oxygen sensor from the dealership would typically rake in a couple hundred bucks in Honda Civic oxygen sensor cost. However, there are many aftermarket O2 sensors that go for much less that can make replacing the O2 sensors economical enough to be part of routine maintenance.
  • Is replacing an oxygen sensor on the Honda Civic an easy enough job for a rookie DIYer?
Answer: Replacing a Honda Civic oxygen sensor can be done using a few common tools such as socket wrenches and some penetrating oil. If the oxygen sensor proves hard to remove, there are also specialized O2 sockets that are readily available anywhere. Since there are no complicated steps or expensive special tools required, replacing the oxygen sensor on a Honda Civic is a great DIY job for beginners.
  • Would it be alright to postpone replacing a busted Honda Civic oxygen sensor until needed for an emissions test?
Answer: Failing an emissions test is actually one of the less troublesome Honda Civic oxygen sensor problems. There is more harm than good in waiting to replace a failed oxygen sensor. Apart from the well-known reasons for keeping a fresh oxygen sensor such as better performance and fewer emissions, a broken O2 sensor results to a huge drop in fuel efficiency of up to 25%. So the savings from not replacing the oxygen sensor can just as easily be lost to constant refueling.
