"It was supposed to be an exact replacement for the Denso sensor that came on my Toyota Tundra, but I needed to modify the heat shield that fit around the sensor and then it fit fine." posted by: Big Al on August 6, 2008

"It arrived about six days after purchase. (Ground delivery only unfortunately). It fit perfectly, although Toyota could have made it easier to unplug the old unit by putting the plug somewhere other than on top of the Transmission of the Tacoma I was working on. I put my right hand around and over the top from the opposite side of where the wires lead and an 8 inch screwdriver in my left on the wire lead side to unhook the wire connection coupling mechanism. A gentle pull on the wire and voila, the old oxygen sensor was out. I used the same screwdriver to press the new unit into the wire connection coupler. I wire brushed the old flange face and tightened the new sensor and flange with a 12 mm wrench. Job done. Works perfectly. Saved hundreds of $$$" posted by: Old Rench on June 17, 2008 view all 2 reviews

Select more Toyota Tundra parts under Oxygen Sensors & Components from list below.

In order to keep the Toyota Tundra going and working well, there is a certain oxygen-fuel ratio that should be maintained by the emissions control system. And in order to know if the right amount is attained, one must constantly check it through the Toyota TUNDRA oxygen sensor. Failure to sustain the right level of the oxygen and fuel mix-up could prevent the car from being fully-operational. Thus, drivers really make it a point to place an order for the best Toyota Tundra oxygen sensor replacement as soon as their truck sensors get faulty. The Toyota Tundra oxygen sensor location actually depends on the kind of exhaust system that the truck has. For vehicles with a single exhaust system, there are two sensors while trucks with dual exhaust systems enjoy the benefit of four sensors that are usually found on the exhaust pipes in front and at the back of the catalytic converter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ask APW
  • Can the Toyota Tundra run without oxygen sensors?
Answer: Yes, the truck can still operate even without a complete set of oxygen sensors installed in the emissions control system. However, Tundra owners might face bigger problems in the future as the overall functionality of the vehicle may suffer. Without a good sensor in the system, the internal combustion engine might not be able to use the right amount of oxygen in burning fuel to allow the truck to run. This means that the Tundra would have to use either more fuel or more oxygen during combustion, which could damage the engine and make the vehicle release more pollutants.
  • How can one be sure that the Toyota Tundra oxygen sensor replacement is high-quality?
Answer: In order to get the best Toyota Tundra oxygen sensor replacement in the market, consumers are advised to negotiate with OEM distributors. This way, there is very little possibility for Tundra owners to get low-class oxygen sensors. Another perk of buying automotive parts in the aftermarket is that they are so much cheaper compared to parts being sold in other stores and websites.
  • What happens if the Toyota TUNDRA oxygen sensor is faulty?
Answer: When the Toyota Tundra's oxygen sensor is not working well, there is a huge possibility that drivers will not be able to know whether the emissions system of their trucks are able to maintain the right level of oxygen and fuel in the vehicle. If there is no sufficient oxygen in the internal combustion engine, it would be impossible for the system to burn fuel. As a result, there will be more unburned fuel left on the truck, making it a more potent source of air pollutants.
  • Where is the Toyota Tundra oxygen sensor located?
Answer: The usual Toyota Tundra oxygen sensor location is on the passenger side of the truck, right after the catalytic converter. In some models, there are sensors placed in front and at the back of the catalytic converter. The number of sensors depends on whether the vehicle has a single or dual exhaust system. Two sensors are needed for those with a single exhaust system, while four sensors are necessary for vehicles with dual exhaust systems.
