This was much easier and cheaper than replacing the whole antenna.

I stupidly sacrificed my Volvo's antenna to the automated car wash and replaced it with this very modestly priced mast. Shipped promptly, installed easily, works great - except the original one did a better job of bringing in a couple of favorite weaker stations. Don't know why, but I've lost some range with the new antenna.

Like the product. Great value for the money as long as you have the right spanner wrench and know the secret to removing the old antenna. Small needle nose or offset needle nose to remove the nut if you don't have the spanner wrench(who does?lol) NOW REMOVAL!!! Once the chrome retaining nut is removed. Clamp some vice grips on the end of the old antenna and tap up on the vice grips with a hammer. It comes out amazingly effortlessly compaired to the struggle of trying to just pull it out. You can lift the car off the ground if you just pull up on the thing. It would be nice to have an ability to manually raise and lower the antenna for car washes. Na, that would make sense, lol.

I broke off my mast when I was scraping ice of the back window and slipped on some ice. People were quoting me $150+ to replace since they wanted to replace the entire antenna including the motor. Luckily I ran across a web article that said you could just replace the mast. I ordered the mast and it was fairly east install. The biggest problem I had was that after I removed the securing nut, I couldn't get the old mast out. I thought there was another locking mechanism, but it just took a big pull to get it out. Overall, it took me about 15 minutes to replace the mast.

If your antenna is bent, the replacement will be super easy. you only need needle nosed pliers to get the nut off. Turn on the radio and pull the betn antenna out. Get the new antenne ready and have someone turn the radio on. slips right into place.

Although the antenna works really well (so far) and we didn't have to replace anything else except the mast, it was much more difficult to replace just the mast (the directions make it sound so easy - it's not as easy as it seems, but it's not rocket science either). It seemed a little expensive at first, but it works, so I'm happy!!

Fit like a glove. Easy to install. I would suggest removing the jack bracket. It makes getting the motor out much easier. Remove motor and clean out any fragments of zip cord if it is not the same length as the new one.
