While it is necessary to adapt to pipe size on vehicle, the rear requires leaving part of the previous converter on. i.e. The very end of the old converter. That will be the same OD as the new converrter. The old fitting has to be ground down, or as I did, filed. I might better have used a coupling. When I do the left bank, I may try cutting the old portion off, and adapt down. I shall try the coupling. You must have a local supplier who stocks a wide variety of fittings! They are inexpensive. Remember, the adapters can be shortened to allow slippage while installing. They can always be shortened, but cannot be lengthened once cut off, so measure carefully. Think ahead. Procrastinate. As it is, I am still going to have a friend braze the rear end joint, as it leaks a little. Using a coupling most likely would have avoided the leakage.
