Great replacement for OEM on my 1985 Trans Am! by Maverick, May 21, 2009

This fog lamp is a full duplicate of the original part in my 1985 Trans Am with few exceptions. It will fully replace the original with a factory fit. The glass lense is what usually get destroryed from road gravel kicked up by other vehicles, and this one duplicates the original with the exception of the Depot name on the lense (minor and unseen without close inspection). The actual hologen bulb is also an exact duplicate to the original - so is the wiring connector. The new housing is also a durable duplicate of the original, but it is plastic. I took the new lense assembly, bulb and wiring, and black plastic retaners (also exact duplicates of the originals), and replaced the broken lense assembly and old wiring in mine with those provided in this new replacement. I then used the factory machined screws to secure the new parts in my factory metal housing (the new replacement assembly uses different wood type screws that will not work with the original metal housing without damaging it, so use the originals that came with the old housing). Tip: If retaining the old metal housing for a very simple install and keep rod grime out, use a little black silicone sealant to help seal the new wiring gromment into the old metal housing and let cure. You can also apply a thin bead to the lip of the old metal housing for better sealing out dirt. Just be sure to leave the bottom vent hole open in the original metal housing - and don't use the engine type (strong) RTV sealant, or you will have problems replacing the bulb or lense assembly in the future. Also, be sure to use a pair of pliers to re-tension the wiring spade connections inside the lighting assembly if needed - and use a little sealant on those original screws in the original metal housing and don't over tighten them. This will keep them in good shape if you need to rerplace the halogen bulb or lense in the future. OEM replacement just doesn't get much easier than this unit provides. This complete unit provides very acceptable quality without being an OEM.

Wonderful! I had spoken to my mechanic and was told this part was no longer available, that he would have to replace both fog lights with something different. My husband and I did not want to change the appearance of the car to that extent. So I went online , found your web site, looked up the part, found it, paid for it and received it within the week. Very easy. Very satisfied. Thank you!
