Installed on my 2000 forester S model hardest part is getting the old one off used dremel and angle grinders takes quite a while but worth it as the car has 130k miles and the dealership wants over $2000 for the parts and labor. Gets it through the inspections and keeps it on the road. Used the same eastern catalytic brand with my 1999 subaru legacy sedan which helped me keep it on the road for over 320k miles before retiring it.

Like I said this bolted right up. I had hoped that with my sheet metal experience that I could modify the factory heat shield to fit...not happening! Don t waste your time. Other than that I love it. Installed my O2 sensors life is great.

Installation was a piece of cake (unlike removal of the old converter, grrrr).

forester threw p420 code and failed emission test. ordered the cat, had it installed for $100 by my mechanic and voila, light off, passed emission test and runs well.

Not an Exact Fit Cat by TheSME, August 25, 2011

Did not fit my Forester. Overall length was 3/4" shorter than original cat assembly, but more importantly the center support bracket was nearly an inch too far forward to match up to the mount on the car. I was also concerned with the minimal amount of heat shielding, particularly on the forward cat, since the front part of the assembly is directly underneath the transmission. Additionally, while the assembly mates ok to the exhaust manifold, the larger size of the forward flange compared to the manifold flange makes precise alignment trickier than if the outer dimensions were the same and flush. This forward and rear cat assembly is significantly lighter than the original, even with the original's extensive heat shielding removed. As others have said, none of the old heat shielding can be used. I tried. I cannot comment on performance since the center support bracket location was a show stopper for me. 1999 Subaru Forester L 2.5 L, Federal EPA Emissions

I'm not a DIY'er or mechanic -- I just didn't want to spend a mint on a catalytic converter. So, I bought one here online and took it to a mechanic to install and it was about half the price of what the dealership and several others had quoted. However, some say they will not install or warranty parts that they did not acquire or would charge time and half for labor. But it can be done for less even for the non-mechanic. So, my check engine light is off, an I'm now getting 24-25 mi. per gallon in my 2004 Subaru Forester with 126,000 miles, which is 3-4 miles more per gallon better. Happy Camper here - Thanks!

easy installation. fits snug right where it is supposed to. gives me the proper airflow to add power which helps when climbing a mountain pass to my house at 9,100 ft in elevation. great flow, more power. extra sensor port if want to add air fuel ration sensor or whatever else. great product.
