AMP Research: Brand of Innovative Accessories

Based in California, AMP Research was founded in 1980 and has established itself as a design and technology company that develops automotive products meant to enhance the functionality of cars, SUVs, and light trucks. Innovation in Motion has been AMP Research's motto as it continues to search for better solutions and provide the best options to the automotive market. It has, in fact, more than 45 patents under its name for automotive-related products, proving its dedication to innovation.

AMP Research was founded by Horst Leitner, an off-road motorcycle racer who had won several races in Europe. With his engineering background, the visionary founder had developed products that can enhance the suspension performance of motorcycles, specifically those he used for racing. His efforts led to the creation of the A-Trak and AMP Link chain torque eliminators, which had done wonders to the handling, performance, and ride quality of off-road motorcycles and even ATVs. In 2013, the operating assets of the company were acquired by Lund International. AMP Research is ISO 9001: 2008-certified. AMP Research operates and maintains a 55,000-square foot facility in California and has been a trusted OE supplier of accessories for Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, Honda, GM, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota, and Nissan. It also caters to the automotive aftermarket industry.

            Electric-powered running boards

AMP Research has introduced electric-powered running boards called the PowerStep. Activated through sensors, these running boards automatically extend when the door is opened and retract when it's closed. These accessories are developed and manufactured in the US and tested under simulated driving conditions to verify if these will perform well in snow dust, mud, dirt, and ice. The running boards and die-cast linkage, along with other components, are made using aircraft-quality aluminum. These come in black anodized finish and are PTFE coated to highly resist corrosion. The hinge points and bearings are constructed using stainless steel and are designed with precision. The electric motor used to run these automatic running boards are designed to operate well, without requiring tedious maintenance. To lessen the aerodynamic drag and reduce weight that might affect fuel efficiency, these running boards are built using lightweight materials that still provide strength. AMP has also released the Powerstep XL for lifted trucks. These running boards are built into the custom rocker trail and offer a 3” lowering stepping surface.

Convenient bumper steps and access steps

Aside from electric-powered running boards, AMP Research has also launched a line of flip-down bumper steps and box-side access steps. The Bedstep is made as a non-slip, retractable bumper step that can hold up to 300 lbs. of weight. Although this bumper step is made to be sturdy, it's still a lightweight. It's designed and engineered with a die-cast aluminum alloy linkage assembly, stainless steel hinge points, and press-fit bushings. This comes in black anodized finish and in PTFE coating for corrosion resistance. Like other AMP products, this is tested under certain road conditions. The Bedstep2 is easy to install and use. The retractable box-side step provides convenient access to the truck.

            Easy-to-use cargo cages

For utility, comfort, and convenience, the company has also come up with ingeniously designed cargo cages for trucks known as the BedXtenderHD. These are available in different designs such as the classic U-shape (BedXtenderHD Max) for maximized cargo capacity, the V-shape design (BedXtenderHD Sport) for extra clearance, and the slant-back style (BedXtenderHD Moto) for the compact, short bed.
