Going off-road is fun and exciting. Every adventure you embark comes out new because of the different factors out in the open. Unlike in paved racetracks, the trail has more surprises and variables set for every driver. That is why off-road rigs are set up with heavy protection, durable suspensions and wheels, and trustworthy engine. But sometimes, these are not enough. What would you do if you or your buddy ended up stuck in a rut? That's one of the many situations an off-roader should prepare for. And when your rig couldn't do it alone anymore, you might have to solicit the help of others. In order to do so, you would also have to be equipped with the proper tools like the ARB winch accessory kit. We chose to try this particular brand because we don't trust substandard recovery equipment. We headed out to the trail to see how much help we could get from the kit. In order to do this, we deliberately drove into traps where using the kit would be necessary. Here's what we found out:
- Large recovery bag
- Snatch strap
- Tree trunk protector
- Winch extension strap
- Recovery damper
- Leather recovery gloves
- Snatch block
- The ARB winch accessory kit was what the brand said it was. We waded through waist-deep waters where there was a good chance of us getting stuck in the loose soil of the river bed. Using the kit, we were able to attach our rig to a sturdy tree and drove out of the river with minimal inconvenience.
- We liked that each piece of equipment is properly labeled with its load limit. This was very significant to us because we are very meticulous whenever using off-road equipment. We wanted to be sure that we were using the right equipment specifically for our rigs.
- The ARB winch accessory kit is bullet proof up to a certain extent only. The kit we used (parts number: RK9) had a maximum load capacity of 5,600 lbs. It meant that using this particular kit would only be effective when used with small pick-up trucks and SUVs like the Toyota Tacoma, FJ Cruiser, and 4Runner. We decided not to gamble our vehicles and equipment by trying it out on a much heavier load.
Equipping yourself with the ARB winch accessory kit can prove to be very helpful when your rig gets stuck in a rut, loose soil, or deep water. You can use it to pull your rig through a tree or with the help of another rig. Just remember to take note of the load limit before you purchase one.
