The 2015 Detroit Auto Show (a.k.a the North American International Auto Show) is now over, and it was awesome! This was probably the best show Detroit has had in some time, with a lot of great announcements and one huge bombshell.
Here, we list down the five biggest reveals that came out of Detroit’s Cobo Center:
- Buick Avenir Concept
Source: GM Authority
Avenir is French for future, and this stylish sedan may well be the future of Buick. Unlike the inoffensive but not exactly pretty models currently in Buick’s lineup, the Avenir is gorgeous! It’s still distinctly Buick, except it looks so much better, with great proportions and excellent attention to detail. Here’s to hoping the look translates to Buick’s upcoming production models.
- Ford F-150 Raptor
We love the Raptor! We love how mean it looks, how well it drives off road, and pretty much everything else about it. This new one, which should come out later this year, looks even better! There are no exact figures yet, but the Raptor’s 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine will make more than the current-gen’s 6.2-liter V8 that produces 411 horsepower. We can’t wait!
- Chevrolet Volt
The second-generation Chevy Volt trades in the first-generation’s futuristic angular look for a “sportier,” more mainstream one. We kinda like it, but as with other cars of its ilk, the Volt isn’t about looks but about efficiency. This one has an all-electric range of 50 miles, with a total driving distance of 401 miles. Current estimates have the new 1.5-liter engine going about 41 miles per gallon of fuel without using the battery.
- Acura NSX
After countless teases and sneak previews, the new NSX is finally here! Was the long wait worth it? Based on the looks alone, we’d have to say yes. As for the numbers, Acura hasn’t provided exact figures yet, but the company does say that the car will have a longitudinally mounted, twin-turbo V6 with over 550 horsepower. We’ll just have to wait for Acura to release the specifics. For now, we’ll just salivate as we look at it.
- Ford GT
Ford stole the show when it unveiled the GT, and rightfully so! We mean, just look at it! Unlike the previous Ford GT, which we think looked to the past a little too much, this one looks fresh, modern, and ready to challenge the best that Europe has to offer. Ford hasn’t given the specifics yet, but the GT will have a 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost (seriously!) V6 that will produce well over 600 horsepower. We wonder what the folks over at Maranello are thinking right about now.
And there you have it, the five biggest announcements out of the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. Was there anything that we missed, or do you think there were other reveals more important than the ones we listed? Tell us in the comments!
