Cars are not just “cars” for car guys, they’re something greater. They’re a way of life for most and a part of their family. A car can be “their baby” as most of them might call it. Chances are they will go on speaking about cars for hours unless someone will stop them. Don’t worry they are just like the rest of us; it’s just that they are a little bit too passionate about their babies. And if you get the chance to bump into one, we have put together a list of things you should never say to a car guy unless you want to get on their bad side.
7. “Can I eat inside your car?”
“HAHAHA You’re kidding, right” They might seem like they are laughing but NO. For these guys, their car is their treasure, thus they spent a lot of money and time just to make sure it’s clean and sleek, so any form of food or dirt is unwelcome.
6. “Don’t worry it’s just a bump/scratch, it’s not even noticeable.”
Even if it’s the smallest scratch, ding or bump, it matters. For car guys, it’s important for them that their car is always in perfect condition whether externally or internally, so it’s better if you just don’t mention it at all.
5. “Do you have to watch Top Gear right now?”
If you’re living with a car guy, you know you can’t stop them from watching Top Gear unless there is a blackout or an emergency. No matter how much you plead, they will ignore you and chances are they will get annoyed. We suggest you take a seat and watch with them. You never know, you might like it as well!
4. “Can you stop taking pictures of your car?”
Like most of the car guys out there, their social media accounts are full of pictures of their cars. Just like some people want to take selfies, they like to take carselfies. You can’t blame them; they are just proud of their car and especially if it’s something they built themselves.
3. “I don’t get the need to name your car.”
Car naming is something that has been done forever and according to Cheatsheet, the most common name used for a car in the United States is Betsy. There is still no definite reason why a person names their car but we can say that car guys treat their car like a real person. It can also be due to the bond that one has built with their car. So just roll with it and say hi to Betsy!
2. “Can I drive it?”
Most non- car guys will be cool enough to let you drive their cars but for car guys, it is always a test of friendship. You might think that they don’t trust you enough but honestly, they just don’t trust anyone with their car except themselves. So it’s better to just let them drive and enjoy the ride!
1. “It’s just a car.”
As we mentioned before, a car is not just a car for car guys. It’s an extension of their family and asking them this question is like telling them: he is just your brother. So before you go there, better stop because this could be one of the biggest insults you could say to them. Let us respect and just let them be because it’s probably too late to stop them now.
