Are you planning to buy a new car? Before you go to the nearest car dealership, it’s better to be prepared for you to be able to get the best deal for your money. Our team put together the list of things you should NEVER say to a car salesman, so you could get the most bang for your buck.
1. “I LOVE THIS CAR!”
No matter how much you love a certain car, it is better not to show any interest towards it when you are in front of a car salesman. The reason is that if they know you love the car, they’ll assume you’ll be willing to spend more on it–and you obviously don’t want that to happen. This is why no matter what car you are looking at, you should always try to look for flaws and problems. And don’t forget: haggle!
2. “I am from this company and I have a position.”
You might be proud of your position and saying it might have helped you in some cases, but informing a car salesman about it might not work in this case. Some or most car salesmen tend to sell the same car for different prices depending on the ability of the person to pay. If they find out that you have a high-paying job, then chances are they will give you a higher price for the car. But talking about your job may be inevitable which is why it will be better if you could downplay your job.
3. “I need this car now!”
Another word car salesman loves to hear is desperation. When they hear this it means easy sell for them because they know that you’re willing to take whatever offer they will give you. It’s very likely that you’ll end up paying higher than what the price should be. Remember: no matter how much you need the car, show some hesitation and the need to think it over.
4. “I want my monthly payment to be this amount.”
We all know that car payment is one of the most important things to consider when buying a car, but take note that getting a smaller monthly payment doesn’t guarantee a great deal. The car salesman might give you a smaller payment but they could stretch it longer than it should be.
