Jay Leno, known for showcasing custom-built machines that have a great story in his YouTube channel Jay Leno’s Garage, has invited the war veterans and father-and-son duo, Richard and Aaron Raher to share their 1957 Chevrolet 210 rebuilt project.
“We had a dream“, Richard said when asked how all of it started. They recalled that they only had a naked frame and body shell to start with. Other parts came from a 1957 4-door vehicle, including the engine. As a nod towards the veterans’ tours, the vehicle wears a license plate that reads “CBT V,” which reflects Aaron’s Combat Veteran medal for Valor, as well as the bullet casings from 556 rounds for the door locks. After two and a half years, the Rahers finished the build with Aaron driving it for the past six years.
“This is a car. It’s meant to be driven, it’s meant to be used.” True to his words, Aaron is driving the car to commute roughly 80 miles to work. This may not be the fastest car to be featured, but its story behind the build is surely one of the most inspiring to grace the Leno’s YouTube channel.
