Halloween is just around the corner. You know what’s exciting about this time of the year apart from candies and chocolates? It’s the perfect occasion to let our freak flags fly.
And as far as dressing up the part for Chamberlain of Costumes is concerned, we’re letting some cars do the talking. Or the dolling up, for that matter. Here are seven mutant vehicles that went all out to be shocking, stunning, and superfluous—just the right kind of crazy we need in this season of scares.
1. Skull Car
What’s Halloween without the good ol’ classic skull? This car looks like it’s gone straight out of the colorful celebration of Dia de los Muertos and ready to voodoo its way down the courses of a sinister version of Mario Kart. Sure it’s dead, but the purple top hat makes it all vibrant and alive.
2. Beamer Streamer
When you get a description that states “like Mad Max meets Willie Wonka” you know things are bound to be outrageous, which is exactly what the Beamer Streamer is, a steampunk tour de force on wheels created by Bob and Karen Thompson.
It’s already impressive at face value, but when you take a closer look at the details, that’s when your mind gets blown. The Beamer Streamer, which utilizes the frame of a 1973 Super Beetle, is a mad makeup of milk cans, glass fuses, satellite dish parts, and garbage can lids.
3. Burning Octopus
It’s a giant octopus sitting atop a crustacean whose carapace is made of steel. And it’s shooting up flames, for Pete’s sake. Nothing else needs to be said.
4. Ghost Ship
This bus-turned-ship is set to give the Flying Dutchman a run for its money, err, treasures. Those filigreed side panels are just hauntingly grand. All aboard, matey!
If someone got away with the idea of merging sharks and tornadoes, then it perfectly makes sense to fuse a shark and a car. Add a dazzling red LED light rope to contour its shape and it’s instantly…JAWSome!
“He attaches himself to the female by biting her, and then digesting part of his face so he fuses with her flesh. He then atrophies, losing his digestive organs, brain, heart and eyes, and winds up nothing more than a pair of gonads, which release sperm when needed.”
That’s an excerpt from a video titled “True Facts about the Angler Fish.” The Angler Fish is mainly the inspiration behind this mutant dubbed as the Discofish.
Now, if that’s not the stuff Halloween is made of, then we don’t know what is. Props to the builders of this ride for turning a horrific inspiration into a glowing and glamorous opus.
7. Dragon Wagon
We’re gonna try and beat Game of Thrones fans to it—Dracarys*!
The amazement for this fire-breathing ride, however, isn’t exclusive to GoT followers. It’s just out there in the open—the design, the composition, the details, the execution. All of these are just so unbelievably put in place you’d want to instantly hop on and try your hand at taming this rolling dragon.
*Dracarys – command given by Daenerys, the Mother of Dragons, to Drogon to encourage him to breathe fire.
