Select your Chevy Blower Motor Resistor model from the list below.

How to Tell that Your Chevrolet Blower Motor Resistor has Failed

Has the air conditioner of your Chevy been stuck at the highest setting? This may not bother you during the hot summer days. But when the cold wind begins to blow, you would surely try to find and fix the root of the problem so you could adjust the temperature as necessary. That problem is often caused by faulty Chevrolet blower motor resistor. You can, of course, ask the help of an a/c mechanic in order to find out if it truly is the culprit. With the help of the following troubleshooting tips, though, you can confirm your suspicions yourself so you can decide on what your next course of action is.

Check for anything that could jam the fan

The blower motor resistor can suddenly fail due to extreme mechanical stress brought by a hard solid foreign object that has jammed the blower motor fan. If you simply park your Chevrolet outside, small animals that are able to get through the location of the blower motor can leave behind unwanted objects. If upon inspection, you see, an acorn perhaps, inserted between the blower motor fan blades, your Chevrolet blower motor resistor could have possibly blown because of the increased current that it could no longer handle.

Be wary of the burnt smell in the A/C

The smell of burnt hair coming from the a/c unit is often caused by blower motor fan jamming. The increased electricity in the resistor will cause too much heat that the insulator would melt and blow. You can easily identify a burnt blower motor resistor by the appearance.

Take a closer look for any signs of corrosion

A closer inspection is needed in order to see if your Chevrolet blower motor resistor has already been eaten by corrosion. An obvious corrosion spot at one of the corners of the resistor is also a clear indication of a need for replacement.

            Measure the resistance to confirm

There are times, though, that a faulty blower motor resistor looks normal, so you can't rely on visual inspection. This time, you need to measure the resistance of every resistor equipped in your blower motor. All you have to do is switch the multimeter to the resistance measuring mode with one probe to the common point and the other at the measuring resistance points. If results show an open circuit, your Chevy needs new blower motor resistor.

            Test the fuse

When the fuse is problematic, it would eventually affect the resistor. So in troubleshooting your Chevrolet blower motor resistor, you need to test the fuse as well. If upon testing, both terminals of the fuse indicate power, you still got a good fuse. But if only one terminal indicates power, better get a replacement already.

Test the blower motor and its ground connection

Blower controls can be complicated, and testing the blower motor will help eliminate confusion. Make sure to test every blower speed. This is done using a 12-volt light while the blower speed switch is being moved through all positions. If power is indicated on higher blower speed but none at mid-range, the resistor is damaged. Also test for the ground at the blower motor. If there is power indicator at all ranges but the motor does not work, you might only need to tighten or replace a corroded ground connection to make the blower motor work normal again.

            Standard Blower Motor Resistor

If the vehicle's blower motor begins to work intermittently, chances are it's got a busted resistor. To get the problem fixed, invest in a brand-new Standard blower motor resistor as soon as possible. This 12 V and blade terminal-type component is the perfect replacement for that busted part since it has superior quality like an OE part. But despite that, this product is sold at an affordable price that won't put a hole in the pocket. Additionally, it comes with two wires, nine terminals, as well as male and female connectors that will make installation a breeze. Backed by a 3-year or 36,000-mile limited warranty, this product sure makes a good buy.

            AC Delco Blower Motor Resistor

Especially created by General Motors to provide high-quality aftermarket components for its line of vehicles, AC Delco is definitely one of the most reliable sources for car parts in the market today. The AC Delco blower motor resistor, for instance, will perfectly fit into a Chevrolet vehicle. This high-quality and direct fit component is designed to fit and perform like a factory part, making it an ideal OE replacement. And since it's manufactured using all-new parts, it's guaranteed to last for a long time. It's also backed by a 1-year or 12,000-mile limited warranty from AC Delco, so one will never go wrong in choosing this product.

            Dorman Blower Motor Resistor

When the Chevrolet blower motor resistor isn't sending enough power to the motor, there will be reduced airflow throughout the entire system, which could lead to other vehicle problems in the future. Good thing this hiccup is now easy to fix with the help of trusty Dorman blower motor resistor. This brand-new component is made using high-quality materials, so it's guaranteed to perform at its peak for a long period of time. It even comes with a Lifetime Dorman limited warranty, giving buyers more convenience. Sold individually, this product is offered at a reasonable cost, making it perfect for DIYers who are working with a budget.
