Mopar Performance: Continuing Decades of American Muscle Heritage

Today, Mopar Performance has become synonymous among automotive enthusiasts as another name for any performance Chrysler vehicle. However, the term is actually a contraction of the phrase motor parts. It has been around since the 1920s, but it was only in 1937 when Chrysler actually turned Mopar into a car parts and servicing brand that caters to its vehicles. The brand started to become a household name in the 1950s, when it built the Hemispherical engine for Plymouth cars. During the 1960s, the brand re-introduced the Hemi and solidified its reputation for engineering the adored power plant. It became a leading brand during the glorious muscle car era.

When stricter emission laws were passed in 1972, Mopar turned its attention to creating a more diverse product line-up for Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth, Jeep, and Eagle models. It began to specialize in maintenance and collision parts. During the 1970s and 1980s, its parent company leaned to create a better distribution system, and thus Mopar became widely available through a wider network of dealers and in various operations.

Today, the Detroit brand gives it a guarantee of quality replacement products. Its solidity as a brand with over 75 years of history has been assured, so the company continues what it does best. It has also expanded into creating customized vehicles in small numbers.

Crate engines suitable for your muscle car restoration

Paying tribute to the bygone era of the rumbling muscle cars is truly a noble cause. Despite dominating the streets in the late '60s and early '70s, there is still a cult following for these torque monsters all across the 50 states. Mopar fans would easily recognize the Charger, Challenger, Barracuda, Roadrunner, and their other Detroit brethrens. However, not all of those have survived garages and barns in their pristine conditions. Worse, some of them have would eventually have empty engine bays. When you are keen on bringing them back to their former glory, you can opt to get crate engines.

The Mopar Performance 426 Hemi is a block that packs a lot of torque and horsepower for the muscle car. This engine would usually end up powering up Chargers and Roadrunners that roll on the street and strip. With the right parts and tuning, you will be able to crank up to 465 horses and 485 ft-lbs of torque in this cast iron block. That amount of engine output is more than enough for you to lay down rubber on the tarmac.

            Reliable transmission overhaul kits

Resurrecting an old muscle car to its former glory will not be complete without mating the big block with a suitable transmission. The Mopar Performance transmission overhaul kits allows you to piece together the worn out assembly to proper working condition again. The kit includes seals, filters, gaskets, rings, bands and discs.

            Crankshafts for increased power

The crankshaft is a fundamental piece in the engine block. It influences how mild or wild your engine can run and produce optimum output. The Mopar Performance Heavy Duty cast crankshaft is made of cast steel and is meant to be used on small block engines. Its strength should be able to endure different applications like racing or hauling.
